How to overcome a headache during the “critical days”, protect yourself from cervical cancer and cope with miscarriage. The questions are answered by a famous gynecologist, author of popular books on gynecological myths, PhD Dmitry Lubnin.
I heard that you can be vaccinated against cervical cancer. Is it possible to do this in 25 years? I have not yet given birth, but I plan to have children and want to protect myself in the future. And is it possible to do such a vaccine if a virus is suddenly detected?
Vaccines are most effective only if the body is not infected. And the papilloma virus infected more than 80% of people who live sexually. Moreover, a condom and spermicides do not protect against infection. Therefore, vaccination should be done only before the onset of sexual activity (most often it is done at 11-12 years). The vaccine is administered at an older age (up to 26 years), but in this case its effectiveness is not very high, since it acts only against those viruses that a woman has not yet been infected with, and as a rule, women are carriers of several types of viruses. The duration of immunity is about five years (research on the vaccine is still ongoing). I would not recommend vaccination at 25. It is easier to undergo a regular examination with a gynecologist once a year with mandatory colposcopy and smear for cytology. With this approach, you will never encounter the problem of cervical cancer. The presence of the virus does not affect pregnancy and the fetus.
Pregnancy under control
I am 28 years old, my two pregnancies ended in miscarriages. Is it possible to avoid this in the future? I so dream of a child ...
This is the usual miscarriage. There can be many reasons - genetic, endocrine, infectious, anatomical, immunological, etc. Before your next pregnancy, you should undergo a full examination in order to identify the cause that led to the miscarriage (but it is not always possible to find the reason). Then treat and correct all conditions and diseases that are likely to affect the termination of pregnancy, and only after that make another attempt to become pregnant. During pregnancy, you need to be under constant medical supervision (more often checked, do an ultrasound scan).
Every time during menstruation I am tormented by headaches and nausea (sometimes it comes to vomiting). Is there a cure?
This condition (pain, nausea, etc.) is called dysmenorrhea. It is associated with an imbalance of special substances in the body - prostaglandins. The main treatment is drugs that suspend the synthesis of prostaglandins - a group of NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). They are quite effective. It is best to use them in the form of rectal suppositories and begin treatment the day before the onset of menstruation. These drugs are taken during the entire period of menstruation.
